Get Festive This Weekend In Downtown Geneva!

Get in the holiday spirit this weekend in beautiful Geneva IL! There are fun, festive activities taking place every day downtown! Join your friends, family, and neighbors for a fa-la-la good time in our very own winter wonderland!


Kick off the Yuletide cheer on Friday, December 6th, with the CHRISTMAS WALK! Head to the courthouse square at 6:00 pm for the arrival of Saint Lucia, a visit from Santa, and the lighting of the tree. Stick around until 9:30 pm for all your favorite holiday traditions, including carol era, roasted chestnuts, and a live nativity! 


Throughout the weekend, be sure to swing by SANTA’S WORKSHOP! Santa will be visiting with the children of Geneva at the corner of South Third and James Streets. Tell him your wish list and have your photo taken. Santa will be available on Friday between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm and on both weekend days from Noon to 4:00 pm. His workshop will remain open on the weekends through Christmas Eve. 


Enjoy the sights and sounds of historic downtown Geneva on a classic CARRIAGE RIDE! Bundle up with your blanket and relax on your free ride starting from the corner of South Third and James Street. Rides are available Saturday and Sunday between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. They will be available every weekend during those times until December 22nd.

Get In The Festive Spirit At St. Charles’ Holiday Homecoming!

Kick off the start of the holiday season at the Fox River Valley’s favorite festive celebration: Holiday Homecoming!!! Head to beautiful downtown St. Charles on Friday, November 29th and Saturday, November 30th for a jolly good time. This weekend will be filled with tons of family-friendly activities. The best part…..it is all FREE! Enjoy carols, seasonal treats, sleigh rides, and more with family, friends, and neighbors just in time for the holidays.


Friday, November 29th: Be there for the Lighting of the Lights! Our very own Mayor Ray Rogina will help light up 1st Street Plaza. As the plaza becomes illuminated in festive splendor, enjoy an appearance by Santa and holiday carols starting at 5:00 pm.

 

Saturday, November 30th: Enjoy a full day of holiday cheer in downtown St. Charles. Head to the Arcada Theatre (105 East Main Street) for a special screening of the holiday classic Home Alone at 10:00 am, with doors opening at 9:00 am. Take a Horse-Drawn Sleigh Ride on 1st Street from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Tell Santa what you want for Christmas by visiting Santa’s House in the plaza between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Check out the spectacular Live Holiday Window Displays on Main and 1st Streets from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Finish the day by enjoying the always incredible Electric Christmas Parade on Main Street (between 6th Street & 4th Avenue), starting at 5:30 pm.

Honor Our Fox River Valley Veterans!

Let us take time this weekend to honor those brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. VETERANS DAY is on Monday, November 11th! Be sure to thank all the veterans you know, especially those that call the Fox River Valley home, for their service and sacrifices made to protect our country and our freedoms. We are eternally grateful for all that you have done. Honor and celebrate our veterans at one of the great events occurring throughout our communities. 

 

Veterans Breakfast

Enjoy a delicious breakfast with veterans and family members. All veterans eat for free!


Fox River-Geneva American Legion Post 75 Centennial Celebration

Location: American Legion Post 75 (22 South Second Street, Geneva)

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of this American Legion Post with food, drinks, raffles, and great speakers, including Colonial Kyle Moore, Bernie Laskowski, and Terry Emma.

 

Veterans Day Open House

Date: Monday, November 11th

Time: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Location: Little White School Museum (72 Polk Street, Oswego)

Come explore the annual Remembering Our Veterans exhibit which features military artifacts and local historical information from the museum's permanent collection. Free admission.

 

Aurora Veterans Day Ceremony & Parade

Date: Monday, November 11th

Time: 10:15 am - 11:30 am

Location: Downtown Aurora

Find the perfect spot along the parade route for the Veterans Day Parade. The route begins at Benton and Broadway and ends at Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Park (23 East Downer Place). At the park, a cermony called "Serving Our Country and Community" will begin at 11:00 am. ceremony.

 

St. Charles Veteran’s Day Ceremony

Date: Monday, November 11th

Time: 10:30 am

Location: St. Charles Police Station (1515 West Main Street)

This celebration will feature the National Anthem, prayers, speeches, performance of Taps, and gun salute.

 

Veterans Day Memorial Park Ceremony

Date: Monday, November 11th

Time: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location: Elgin Veterans Memorial Park (270 North Grove Avenue)

Join local veterans organizations and Mayor David Kaptain as we honor all of our nation's members of the Armed Services.

 

North Aurora Annual Veterans Day Memorial

Date: Monday, November 11th

Time: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Location: North Aurora Veterans Memorial (11 North Willoway)

Start the celebration at the North Aurora Veterans Memorial before heading to the reception and recognition event at the North Aurora Police Department (200 South Lincolnway).

 

Honoring our Local Heroes: Veterans Day in St. Charles

Time: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Location: St. Charles Public Library (1 South 6th Avenue Street)

Halloween is quickly approaching! Get ready for a night of spooky, frightening fun! With your costume ready and your goody bag emptied, it is time to hit the streets of the Fox River Valley for some trick or treating! The night of Halloween, Thursday October 31st, will be filled with ghosts and goblins, superheroes and princesses! Here is a list of all of the trick or treating hours for the communities in our area!

Make sure everyone has a safe and happy Halloween by following these simple safety tips!

 

  • Trick or treaters should always walk in groups and never alone.
  • Parents or guardians should always accompany young children.
  • Bring a flashlight or attach reflective gear to costumes to ensure that everyone is visible after dark.
  • Make sure costumes do not restrict vision or have any tripping hazards.
  • Stay on sidewalks and within crosswalks when trick or treating. Only walk and avoid using skateboards, skates, bikes, etc.
  • Always look for traffic when crossing the street. If you will be driving on Halloween, make sure to always check for pedestrians.
  • Check ALL candy before letting your children eat any of it. You should only keep candy that is properly wrapped or packaged.
