Nuncrackers - A Nunsense Christmas Musical,  Nov 23 – Dec 22, 2013

It’s the annual Christmas program put on by the nuns of Mount Saint Helen's and what will go wrong this year? Well, at the last minute Reverend Mother must dance the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy, for one, and Father Virgil replaces Sister Julia Child of God in the cooking demonstration!  Children of the parish perform musical numbers and a Living Nativity Scene. With audience participation and singalong, this is a hilarious show for the entire family, with a heartwarming message on the real meaning of Christmas as the finale.  Book, Music and Lyrics by Dan Goggin

DOGS ON THE MAYFLOWER

by The Rullo Team

Research confirms that the Pilgrims weren’t the only passengers aboard the Mayflower in September, 1620.  25-year-old pilgrim John Goodman brought his dogs along for the voyage.  Guess which two out of these three dogs made the trip.

VETERANS DAY - THANK YOU!

by The Rullo Team

World War I officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.” In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. On June 1, 1954, November 11th became a day to honor American veterans of all wars and the name was changed to ‘Veterans Day”.  For a few years, from 1971 to 1977, Veterans day was observed on a Monday in order to ensure a three day weekend for federal employees, but due to confusion (many states continued to observe the holiday on the original date) and the fact that this day is a matter of historic and patriotic significance to a great number of our citizens, it was decided that Veterans Day would be observed on November 11 regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
