And there is no shortage of exciting events to attend in the Fox Valley area! Our earlier post told you about the Holiday Homecoming event in St. Charles, but Batavia AND Geneva have some holiday fun planned as well.

Celebration of Lights Festival takes place on Sunday, November 27th from 4-7 at the Batavia Riverwalk located at 151 Island Avenue, Batavia and the admission is free!

Free hayrides (with food or $1 cash donation directly benefitting the Batavia Food Pantry), Holiday Craft Market, free roasted chestnuts, community sing-a-long and the arrival of SANTA! Mayor Schielke will light the ceremonial Christmas tree and much, much more!

Geneva Christmas Walk

The festivities begin at the courthouse square on Friday, December 2nd at 6 pm with the arrival of Santa Lucia, Santa lighting the great tree and so much more! Don’t miss the Christmas Walk House Tour and a full weekend of events with something for everyone. This is Geneva at its finest!! You can also visit Santa on Friday evening and on Saturdays and Sundays visit Santa and take a complimentary carriage ride throughout the Christmas season.

St. Charles Holiday Homecoming!

Fill your spirits with holiday cheer at our favorite St. Charles winter event…..the Holiday Homecoming. Head to downtown St. Charles Friday, November 25th and Saturday, November 26th for the ultimate holiday celebration. The weekend is filled with tons of family-friendly activities. The best part…..it is all FREE! Enjoy carols, seasonal treats, and quality time with family and friends just in time for the holidays.


At 5:00 pm on Friday, November 25th watch the 1st Street Plaza become illuminated during the Lighting of Lights. Mayor Ray Rogina will flip the switch to make the plaza glow with festive spirit. Enjoy carols and a visit from Santa on this fun-filled evening.

 


The festivities continue all day on Saturday, November 26th. The Arcada Theatre (105 East Main Street) is showing the holiday film favorite Elf at 10:00 am, with doors opening at 9:00 am. From 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, swing by Santa’s House on 1st Street Plaza. Enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides downtown St. Charles between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The day ends with the Electric Christmas Parade at 5:30 pm. Watch this year’s Grand Marshals, Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg, lead the beautiful electric floats down Main Street during this unique holiday parade.

Holiday Extravaganza

CASA Kane County will be holding their Inaugural Holiday Extravaganza

Two special events combined in one great evening will be held on the eve of the Annual Geneva Christmas Walk. The event featuring a Holiday Carnivale for Kids and Families AND the Holiday Glam & Couture Fashion Show, helps us celebrate for a cause.

Thursday, December 1st

Holiday Carnivale for Kids and Families

4:30 – 7:00 p.m.

A magical evening with Santa and his Sleigh and our friends from Frozen!

Carolers with greet you as you enjoy gourmet candy stations, activities, hors d’oeuvres, premiere kid’s finger foods & desserts!

Holiday Glam & Couture Fashion Show

7:30 – 11:00 p.m.

Your holiday season will start in style with a couture fashion show featuring everyday, cocktail and evening attire!

Enjoy music and dancing provided by Vargo’s Dance as you watch the local models on the catwalk.

Hors d’oeuvres, food stations, wine & beer are included.

 

This event is for adults only, as space is limited.

Election Day, November 8th, is here! No matter which candidates you are voting for this year it is important to have your voice heard! It is one of the great freedoms that we get to enjoy in this country. There is still plenty of time to get to the polls today. All polls in Illinois will be open until 7:00 pm. As long as you are in line by that time, you will be allowed to vote. Make sure to bring a valid form of identification.

After analyzing the results, they ranked the cities in the nation to find the best of the best. From that list, Reboot Illinois found the best 25 small cities in Illinois. When the results came in.....3 Fox River Valley communities made it to the top of the pack!!

 


Oswego was ranked #8 in Illinois! Oswego truly prides itself on maintaining its small town feel. With an incredible public school district, great recreational facilities, including one of the top ranked golf courses in the Chicago area, and fun annual community events, Oswego offers a great quality of life to its population. This city is also recognized for its affordable living.


 

St. Charles made it up to #9! This community offers all the amenities of a larger city but the feel of a small town.
