What Fits in Your 1,500 or 2,500 Square Foot Home?

by The Rullo Team

Square footage is an incredibly important factor when house hunting. You want to ensure that your new home will comfortably accommodate you and your family now and into the future….along with have space for all of your belongings! Houses that are staged are beneficial in order to visualize how you can utilize the space and what can and cannot fit when you move in. Not all houses on the market are staged for showings though so how can you know what fits in a 1,500 square foot or 2,500 square foot home? Real estate website Trulia got creative and discovered what unique items they could fill in these two sized homes.

What fits in a 1,500 square foot home?

This comfortably sized home is perfect for first time homeowners. Although the prices vary for such homes across the country, they tend to be an affordable option as a starter home. There is plenty of space for a couple moving up from a rental property to fit their belongings within the 1,500 square feet. And, there are perks for living in a smaller home…….less area to keep clean, lower utility bills, and extra money to spend on updates within the home itself!

What fits in a 2,500 square foot home?

For many American families, 2,500 square feet is the perfect size home. In fact, this was the median square footage for newly constructed single-family homes in 2015, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. These new homes mostly have 4+ bedrooms along with 3 or more bathrooms, allowing for plenty of space for a family.

Fox Valley Area Apple Orchards Opening for Labor Day Weekend!

by The Rullo Team

Labor Day Weekend marks the unofficial end of summer. The weather in Illinois is starting to cool down and kids are returning to school. Although it is sad to have summer coming to a close, it also means that fall is just around the corner! Along with the beautiful autumnal colors and refreshingly crisp nights, one of our favorite things about fall is Apple Picking! Kick off your Labor Day Weekend by grabbing some fresh apples at one of these great local orchards!

Head to Kuipers Family Farm (1N318 Watson Road) in Maple Park to pick some Red Frees, Blondees, Ginger Golds, Galas, or countless other varieties of apples. Admission to the orchard is $10.00 per person and includes a ¼ peck bag of apples and a hayride. The orchard will be open this weekend from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday. The farm will also be open on Labor Day! After picking your own apples, be sure to stop by the shop and bakery for an extra special treat, such as a hand dipped caramel apple or fresh apple cider doughnut!

Plank Road Apple Orchard (50W737 Plank Road) in Sycamore will be opening this Saturday, September 3rd, to kick off the season. Their hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Wednesday through Monday. There are plenty of Gala and Ginger Gold apples waiting for you to pick them!

Don’t let the name fool you! Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch (42W813 Reinking Road) in Hampshire has so much more than just pumpkins! Their U-Pick apples orchard opened in August. It is open daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Head over there this weekend to get all your apples for the delicious pie you plan on baking!

We wish you and your family a very safe and fun Labor Day Weekend!
