Come One, Come All to the Kane County Fair!

It’s time for the biggest summertime celebration in all of the Fox River Valley….. the 2019 Kane County Fair & Festival!!! For 151 years, our county has come together every summer to showcase what makes living in this area so great! Come join in on all the fun this Wednesday, July 17th, through Sunday, July 23rd, for 5 days of family fun and amusement!

 

The festivities are taking place at the Kane County Fairgrounds located at 525 South Randall Road in St. Charles. Join your friends, family, and neighbors for the endless activities and entertainment going on during the fair! Dine on classic festival food. Take a spin on some of the amusement rides or win carnival prizes on the Midway. Dance away to fun live entertainment at the Miller Lite Sound Stage. Check out all of the amazing local vendors and exhibits. Entertain the kiddos at the petting zoo and obstacle course. Swing by the Grandstand to watch several special events such as the demolition derby and bull riding!

Batavia’s Windmill Festival is Back!!!

Celebrate Independence Day in the Fox River Valley!

Celebrate our nation’s independence in the beautiful Fox River Valley! Independence Day is almost here! Show off your patriotic pride at one of the many family-fun community events planned throughout our area this Fourth of July!  


 

AURORA

Fourth of July Parade

When: Thursday, July 4th | 10:00 am

Where: Downtown Aurora (Begins at Benton, Ends on River Street)

Cost: FREE!

Find the perfect spot along the route for this great annual parade.


Afternoon Picnic 

When: Thursday, July 4th | 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Where: Tanner House (305 Cedar Street)

Cost: FREE!

Enjoy some old-fashioned Independence Day fun with the Aurora Historical Society. Check out the museum, play some games, participate in the food eating contests, pet some furry animals, and watch the national Ringing of the Bells at 1:00 pm.


Fourth of July Celebration

When: Thursday, July 4th | 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Where: McCullough Park (150 West Illinois) & RiverEdge Park (360 North Broadway Avenue)

Cost: FREE!

Start at McCullough Park for some fun inflatables, carnival rides, and music to get you dancing. Then, get in the patriotic spirit by listening American classics performed by the Aurora American Legion Band and Bruce in the USA at RiverEdge Park.  At 9:30 pm, enjoy a spectacular fireworks display over the river.


BATAVIA

4th of July Sky Concert

When: Thursday, July 4th | 5:00 pm

Where: Engstrom Park (326 Millview Drive)

Cost: FREE!

Enjoy Batavia’s spectacular annual “Sky Concert”! Dine on delicious food beginning at 5:00 pm. Dance to your favorite hits during a concert by The Blind Roosevelts at 6:00 pm. The Batavia Community Band will be performing patriotic music and American classics at 8:15 pm. The Sky Concert will begin at 9:30 pm.


ST. CHARLES

July 4th Celebration 

When: Thursday, July 4th | 6:00 pm

Where: Pottawatomie Park (8 North Avenue)

Cost: FREE!

Dance the evening away at a free concert by the band Shout Out as they perform a wide variety of favorite tunes. Bring a blanket down to Pottawatomie Park to take in the fireworks after the concert.


OSWEGO

Independence Day Fireworks 

When: Thursday, July 4th | 9:30 pm

Where: Prairie Point Community Park (4120 Plainfield Road)

Cost: FREE!

Enjoy the fireworks show from your favorite spot in the park.

Geneva's 70th Annual Swedish Days Festival is Here!

For 70 years, the start of summer is marked by one of the most beloved community events in the Fox River Valley: the SWEDISH DAYS FESTIVAL!!! Head to beautiful Geneva from Tuesday, June 18th, through Sunday, June 23rd, for a full week of family fun!  There are Kids Events, Food Booths, a carnival and games, music performances, cultural activities, and SO MUCH MORE! Celebrate Your Dad in the Fox Cities!

This Sunday, June 16th, is Father’s Day! Time to celebrate the dad in your life. No matter what your dad loves to do, there is something for everyone happening this weekend around the FOX RIVER VALLEY. Here are 7 fun ideas for you to show your dad how much you appreciate all that he does!

 

1) FATHER'S DAY BBQ. Treat your dad to a delicious BBQ on Father’s Day at Blackberry Farms in Aurora. After enjoying your lunch, explore the farm or participate in the fishing derby!

2) ST. CHARLES PADDLEWHEEL RIVERBOATS. Take in the beautiful Fox River aboard a Mark Twain era paddlewheel riverboat with your dad. This 50 minute tour will introduce you to the local history of our area. Embark this Sunday, June 16th, on the 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, or 5:00 pm cruises.

3) GOLF AT SETTLER'S HILL. Hit the links with dad at this favorite golf course in Batavia. This unique golf course nestled in a forest preserve showcases the natural beauty of our area. Enjoy quality time with dad outdoors as you work on your swing.

4) FISH ON THE FOX RIVER. Grab your fishing rods and your father and check out on of the many great fishing spots along the Fox River. Catch channel catfish and smallmouth bass as you and your dad enjoy the great outdoors.

5) SWIM AT SPLASH COUNTRY AND PHILLIPS PARK. Dad’s swim for free on Sunday at Splash Country Water Park and Phillips Park Aquatic Center when accompanied by one child. Beat the summer heat and have a day at the pool!

6) FATHER'S DAY BRUNCH AND DINNER. Take dad out for an upscale meal at Wildwood in Geneva (or his favorite spot in the Fox River Valley) on Father’s Day. Arrive between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm for an a la carte brunch featuring all of dad’s favorites. Or, come after 5:00 pm to enjoy dinner and check out the latest items on their menu.

7) ELGIN RIB FEST. Let dad indulge in some delicious ribs at the family friendly Elgin Rib Fest. Enjoy life music, carnival games, and delicious food all weekend, Friday through Sunday!

Save some free time this upcoming Memorial Day weekend for the 21st annual St. Charles Fine Art Show!!! Head to Riverside Avenue & Main Street in beautiful downtown St. Charles on Saturday, May 25th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, May 26th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for this incredible art event!

The St. Charles Fine Art Show showcases the original, juried work of around 100 fine artists. You will find the most beautiful works of art in ceramics, drawing, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, wood, and so much more. Every piece of exhibited work is available for sale during the art show! Find some great new art for your very own Fox River Valley Home! In addition to all of the exhibited art, there will be fun hand on art activities for all ages and live musical entertainment throughout the event! And, the best part? Admission and parking are totally FREE!
