Fox Valley Memorial Day Events!

Although Memorial Day weekend is filled with so much summertime fun, it is important that we remember the true reason for the long weekend. It is the time to Honor our nation's veterans and active military members! Spend some time this holoiday weekend to remember and give thanks for the sacrifices these brave soldiers have made in order to keep us safe and protect the freedoms that we as Americans hold so dear. Honor and celebrate the men and women of the United States armed forces by attending these fantastic Memorial Day events being held throughout the Fox Valley!

While this long weekend has come to symbolize the unofficial beginning of summer and is filled with barbeques and other fun family gatherings, it is important that we remember the reason for the holiday! We all should thank our nation’s brave veterans that served to keep us safe and protect the freedoms that we all hold so dear on Memorial Day and everyday. Memorial Day Weekend Events in St. Charles!

Memorial Day weekend is HERE, and there are exciting family-friendly events going on this holiday weekend in St. Charles that we wanted to share with you!

 

Memorial Day Celebration & Parade

When: Monday, May 30th at 10am.

Where: Parade begins downtown St. Charles at 6th and Main Streets and concludes at the Freedom Shine.

Following the parade there will be a memorial service and address from the mayor. After this, make sure to head over to Pottawatomie Park Pavilion for a family picnic!

St. Charles Fine Arts Show

When: Saturday, May 28th from 10am-6pm & Sunday, May 29th from 10am-5pm

Where: Downtown St. Charles.

Cost: FREE!

This award winning show will feature 100 artists in various mediums.

While this long holiday weekend most often signifies the beginning of summer with the kids out of school, pools opening, picnics and BBQs with friends and family, and overall celebration, we must remember WHY we have this holiday. Memorial Day is here for us to remember the sacrifice made by men and women who have served our country in order for us to enjoy the freedom that is so important to Americans. So please remember to take a moment to thank our veterans this weekend, and every day.

MEMORIAL DAY 

Come celebrate the unofficial start of summer at the annual St. Charles Memorial Day Parade.

Honor and celebrate those who have served our country.

Beginning at 10 am on 6th street and continuing to Riverside Avenue ending with a celebration at Freedom Shrine (along the river, north of the police department).  If you are unfamiliar with the Wounded Warrior Project, a veterans charity group offering a variety of support and services for our wounded military, please visit the website to learn more and support the wounded men and women who serve our country.  

 

 After the parade, head on over to Riverside Avenue and support local artists at the St. Charles Fine Art Show: This award winning and highly regarded show Presented By STC Capital Bank starts Saturday May 23 at 11am and lasts until 6pm and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 24.  Located on Riverside and Walnut avenues, off Main Street, St. Charles. The fest features the work of 100 juried artists in various media, including watercolor, oil, sculpture, photography, demonstrations from artists and live music throughout the weekend.  Fun for the whole family and best of all it's Free.  Check out Downtown Saint Charles Website for more info on these and other fun events coming up.
