PROPOSED CHANGES TO CHARLESTOWNE MALL

by The Rullo Team

Proposed changes to Charlestown Mall in St. Charles include tearing down the former Sears store as part of an overall restructuring of the mall.  Reconfiguring the entrances to the mall and the movie theater, relocating the food court, and exterior renovations to the mall itself to make it more eye-catching to passers-by are also included on the list of proposed changes. Several outlots would be developed into commercial locations for banks, restaurants and other retail uses along Route 64.

The contract buyers of Charlestowne Mall are requesting to amend the shopping center’s planned-unit development (PUD) ordinance to allow for the proposed improvements.  A public hearing was held at the Tuesday Oct.8, 2013 Plan Commission meeting and was continued into its next meeting on Oct. 22. After the public hearing is complete, the St. Charles Plan Commission will send their recommendation to the St. Charles City Council. For more information visit the St. Charles Patch website.
