St. Charles is home to 57 highly rated parks with Pottawatomie Park being the flagship.  Among the parks are endless activities and recreation opportunities and fantastic festivals throughout the year.  Residents can take advantage of the skate parks, three dog parks, and six biking/running trails.  Being located on the Fox River, paddle boating, fishing, kayaking and boating are all easily accessible activities for you to enjoy.  There are two outdoor and one indoor swimming pool, all of which are open to the public. 

There is always entertainment to be found at any of the three theatres within the city - the Arcadia Theatre, the Mainstage Theater and the Steel Beam Theatre; all of which have live shows ranging from concerts, comedians and musical productions.  Festivals throughout the year, such as the Scarecrow Festival and Holiday Homecoming continue to enrich and bring the community together.

 

School/Health/Transportation

St. Charles is a part of the St. Charles Community Unit School District 303, which has been rated A+ and is in the top three schools in the county.  The district serves about 12,660 students and is comprised of 11 elementary, two middle and two high schools.  Among the 408 districts in the state of Illinois, District 303 is in the top 15 for athletes.  St. Charles is conveniently located within driving distance from top universities such as Illinois State, University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign, Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin. 

Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital is located in Geneva, just 2.4 miles from St. Charles.  Traveling around St. Charles is made convenient with easily accessible airports, Amtrak and the Metra.  The city is only 42 miles from Chicago, so travelers can choose to get downtown by driving or taking the Metra’s red – line out of Geneva.  For getting out of town, the Amtrak out of Naperville is only 30 minutes away.  O'Hare International Airport is a 45 minute drive from town and Midway International is just shy of an hour.  Between the two airports, travelers can get to just about anywhere in the world.

There are endless dining options around St. Charles.  From the best pizza in the area to fine dining, there is something for everyone.  Known as some of the best pizza in the Chicagoland area, Giordano's has something for everyone in the family.  Neo Pizzeria is also known for it’s family friendly, yet modern atmosphere while La ZaZa Trattoria is a popular upscale pizzeria.  Other popular upscale restaurants in the area are known for their outstanding service, atmosphere and quality, such as Mia Francesca, St. Charles Place and E&S Fish CompanyTaste of Himalayas and Vino THAI's bring their customers an authentic dining experience.  Those looking to brunch should look no further than Alexanders Cafe and Brunch Cafe.  Both bring diners a classic brunch experience with a modern twist and a full lunch menu.  One of the most unique, yet well – known restaurant in St. Charles has to be Books & Cafe, a locally owned book store that also serves the best lunch in town, with a scenic backyard patio that can’t be overlooked. 

With over 30 boutiques and national retailers, downtown St. Charles has become a go-to shopping district.  Jeans and a Cute Top Shop provides customers with trendy fashions that are one of a kind and Curious Fox Gift Shop has unique items from clothing, to candles, to home goods.  National retailers are also an option such as TJ Maxx and World Market bring various options.  Geneva Commons, an upscale outdoor mall with over 80 retailers, is located just next door.
