This community is served by one of the finest school systems in Illinois with ten elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools. St. Charles children are involved in a well-developed curriculum and outstanding athletic programs that encourage the rewards of both a healthy mind and body. Both St. Charles high schools have the atmospheres of a campus setting and are the pride of the community. The East high school has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education. All elementary, middle, and high schools in the district are accredited by the North Central Association.
The park district offers 1,400 plus acres with a wide variety of activities both indoor and out….public golf courses, tennis courts, swimming pools, baseball, soccer, football, miniature golf, ice skating, picnic areas, playgrounds, bike paths and more. The Riverboat rides on the Fox River or a walk along Freedom Walk are a special feature of Pottawatomie Park enjoyed by all ages.
Shopping is a joy for all who live in or visit St. Charles. In the downtown area you will find a large variety of antique shops and specialty shops keeping with the charm of the town's heritage. The Chalestowne Mall, located on the East Side of town, is a magnificent architectural masterpiece, with over 80 stores. Batavia is a city as simple as the windmills it once made, giving it all the easy-going qualities of a small town. Yet, it is as complex as the atom smashing done at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in its southeastern corner.
Batavia is also a city of fine homes. They range from gracious, turn-of-the-century mansions to executive-style homes with three- and four-car garages, and from ranch and split-level homes to luxury townhouses, condominiums, and apartments.
The city has a highly rated public school system, plus excellent private facilities. With more than 150 acres of parks within the city and thousands of acres of forest preserve around it, Batavians enjoy some of the finest recreation opportunities anywhere.
The Randall Road corridor, on Batavia's west side, explodes with new shopping centers and new subdivisions of homes, while in the downtown area along the Fox River, resident volunteers lay brick walkways and build staunch timber overlooks at the Batavia Riverwalk that enhance the beauty and restfulness of the area.
Proud of its past, Batavia has managed to retain much of its early history while continuing to look toward the future.

Real Estate Tips
Selling Your Home >Why Is It Not Selling

If you are selling your home and it has been on the market for several months, you might start to wonder why it just isn't moving. How can you introduce some extra energy into the sale?

The first thing you should do is have a frank talk with your real estate agent in order to get feedback from prospective buyers who have seen your home, and other agents who have shown it. Does your home look its best? Is it accessible for agents to show on short notice? Is the price in line with the rest of the market? Do you need to consider neutralizing any strong decorating features that may not have wide appeal?

Getting your home sold is a collaborative effort between you and your real estate agent. It is important for your agent to market your property aggressively, but you must do your part to ensure that buyers see a home that is as appealing as it can be. Ask your agent for any new ideas that will create results.
