Established in 1857, the city of Aurora is the second most populated city in the state of Illinois.  Primarily known as a city built from the railroad industry, Aurora quickly became a hub for businesses outside of Chicago.  Between the railroad, an ideal location of the Fox River, and continuous economic growth, the city attracted immigrants from all over Europe and Mexico.  Because of this, Aurora was the most populated and economically strong city in the Fox River Valley.  As the progression of the city continued, so did its political stances and Aurora opened the first free public school district in the state.  As the city continues to grow, Aurora has found a perfect balance of modernizing itself while maintaining its historical identity.
